KUALA LUMPUR, June 16 2023 (Bernama) — The Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) today announced the appointment of Jamaluddin Muhammad as its new Editor-in-Chief, effective June 9.
The announcement was made by Bernama chief executive officer Roslan Ariffin at the National Journalists’ Day (HAWANA) 2023 Appreciation Ceremony at Wisma Bernama here.
“We hope Jamaluddin will bring Bernama Editorial Department to greater heights and be capable of facing current challenges.
“With the recent appointment of the two deputy editors-in-chief, Bernama also hopes he would be able to form a stronger and solid editorial team,” he said.
The two recently appointed deputy editors-in-chief were Nur-ul Afida Kamaludin (News Service) and Arul Rajoo Durar Raj (Economic News Service).
Jamaluddin, 59, a graduate of Mass Communications (Journalism) from Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) has been with Bernama for the past 38 years.
He has also served as the Bernama bureau chief for Kedah and Putrajaya, Bernama correspondent in Thailand, and executive editor for Domestic News Service before being appointed as deputy editor-in-chief for Bernama International News Service.
Meanwhile, Roslan also congratulated and thanked all Bernama personnel for the successful implementation of HAWANA 2023 in Ipoh, Perak from May 27 to 29.
Bernama is the implementing agency of the event.
Themed “Media Bebas, Tunjang Demokrasi”, HAWANA 2023 was participated by 1,000 local and foreign media practitioners and was graced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
